Economic viability of Apis mellifera honey production supplemented with two types of syrup, in the municipality of salinas - mg

Beekeeping arouses great interest because it is an activity that does not take up much time and does not require large investments. However, there is a gap in economic aspects for most beekeepers in this chain. The present study aimed to economically evaluate the production of honey originating from mastic flower at a basic technological level, using food supplementation with two types of crystal sugar syrup (pure and added with amino acid-vitamin complexes), supplied to Apis bees. mellifera, in the off-season. The study was based on investment estimates and production costs used by SEBRAE, disregarding the costs of processing facilities. Investments, production costs, profitability and estimated business growth over five years were analyzed. Through a cash flow, the net present value (NPV) indicators were obtained, with a minimum attractiveness rate (MAR) of 10%, internal rate of return (IRR) and capital recovery time (TRC) by type of syrup and negative control. The production of honey from mastic blossoms proved to be economically viable, with positive NPVs and IRRs greater than the AMR for the supplemented treatments, followed by the control group. Based on the TRCs, the investor would receive a return on the initial investment in one year and four months.
