O cultivo de algodão continua a fazer incursões nas extensas fazendas ao redor de Luis Eduardo Magalhães, no oeste da Bahia, onde predomina o clima de Cerrado. Os períodos úmidos e secos bem definidos tornaram a região um local de expansão natural para o cultivo do algodão.
