Abstract

This study aimed to physically and chemically characterize seven soil samples from the CSTR Forest Nursery, seeking to understand and improve their properties and potential limitations for use. Granulometric analyses, performed using the densimeter, pipette, and sieving methods, revealed a predominance of sandy loam texture, with the exception of Sample 4, classified as sandy clay loam. Determinations of bulk density, particle density, and porosity aided in the structural description of the soils, while chemical analysis showed pH varying between slightly acidic and low alkalinity, high base saturation values, and phosphorus levels that fluctuated significantly among the samples. The results indicate soils with good drainage, moderate nutrient availability, and susceptibility to water loss, reinforcing the importance of management and conservation actions to prevent degradation processes. The study contributes to the edaphic understanding of the Forest Nursery, serving as a basis for future activities such as research, teaching, and environmental management.
