Avaliação fitossanitária de indivíduos arbóreos da Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto, Campina Grande, PB

Abstract

The phytosanitary assessment of urban trees is an essential tool for diagnosing tree health and planning preventive management actions. This study aimed to evaluate the phytosanitary condition of tree species located along Marechal Floriano Peixoto Avenue, in Campina Grande (PB). A total of 98 individuals belonging to 22 species were analyzed, considering the presence of pests, mechanical injuries, decay, and other types of damage. Results showed that 70.4% of the trees were in good or satisfactory condition, while 29.6% exhibited some degree of impairment, mainly due to termite attacks (18%), ants (16%), and mechanical damage (11%). Overall, the avenue’s urban trees display a satisfactory level of health; however, the occurrence of localized damages highlights the importance of regular phytosanitary monitoring and technical training for urban tree management teams.
