Abstract

This is a course conclusion work aimed at discussing flow cytometry, a technique for sexing cattle. This method aims to obtain the sexing of the sperm through the separation of the X and Y chromosomes, being possible to perform this procedure due to the difference in the DNA of the sperm cells. After separation, the doses are frozen on a pallet at a dose of 2x10 6, unlike the conventional semen dose of 10x10 6. Therefore, this research has a special academic justification, as the topic must still be discussed a lot due to the counterpoints that still need to be addressed. adjusted with the development of more research on the subject. Thus, this review had the general objective of dealing with the flow cytometry technique for bovine sexing. In order to reach the general objective, it was necessary to outline the following specific objectives: to present general aspects of the flow cytometry technique for bovine sexing; discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using the technique; to analyze, through an integrative review, studies published electronically on Google Scholar, similar to the topic and discuss them. It is concluded, therefore, that the use of sexed semen is a biotechnological tool that has a lot to add within livestock and we would hope with the development of more studies to improve the sexing skill that future results are much more promising than the results. recently followed.
