DEPRESSÃO NA POPULAÇÃO IDOSA: UMA REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA DA LITERATURA

Abstract

Introduction: Depression can be understood as a multifactorial disorder that affects the affective area, developing through psychological, social, and biological aspects. Among the main symptoms, the depressed mood and the intense loss of interest and pleasure in performing daily activities stand out. Objective: To correlate depression and human aging. Methodological aspects: This is an integrative literature review, a method that allows the construction of knowledge and the inclusion of the applicability of the results of relevant studies in the practical field. To elaborate the research corpus, we will use consultations in scientific databases on the internet: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), MEDLINE and LILACS. The descriptors of the Health Sciences Descriptors will be used: Occupational Diseases. Depression. Psychiatry. Elderly. The publication period of the literature will be from 2012 and 2022. Results: it was found that depression is considerably higher in the elderly living in conditions of hospitalization or institutionalization, whose complexity and proportion of depression in the elderly population consist, sometimes, of the severe vulnerability resulting from the human aging process itself.
