Conhecimento de competências em saúde da mulher dos médicos da atenção primária

Objectives: To assess the knowledge of Family and Community physicians working in primary care in Ribeirão Preto - SP, about the competencies in Women's Health Care, according to the Competency-Based Curriculum of the Society of Family and Community Medicine (CBCSMFC). Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out in Ribeirão Preto - SP, with physicians from Health Units from April 2022 to March 2023. A structured questionnaire was used, and through direct interviews, sociodemographic and professional characteristics and mastery of specific CBCSMFC competencies in Women's Health were assessed. Results: Of 52 invited physicians, 51 were interviewed, with representatives from all districts of the city. Most of the professionals were white women (58.8%), with Medical Residency in Family and Community Medicine (74.5%). The majority (58.8%) worked as preceptors, even without stricto sensu postgraduate studies. Of all the professionals interviewed, 72.5% performed cervical cancer (CV) screening, all performed breast CV screening, and although 98% performed normal-risk prenatal care, 50.9% performed high-risk prenatal care. However, 88.2% reported managing cases of gestational diabetes in the PHC setting. Half of the doctors performed intrauterine device insertion and contraceptive implants in the population. Conclusion: The doctors who work in the PHC of Ribeirão Preto offer essential care and mastery of specific CBCSMFC skills in relation to women's health routines, however half of the professionals do not perform high-risk prenatal care.
