Violência obstétrica sob a lente da ciência: uma revisão bibliométrica entre 2005 e 2025

Abstract

Obstetric violence is a serious public health and human rights issue, characterized by practices and behaviors that violate women’s dignity, autonomy, and reproductive rights during childbirth. This study aimed to map and analyze the scientific production on obstetric violence indexed in the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) from 2005 to 2025, through a descriptive and quantitative bibliometric review. Sixteen articles met the eligibility criteria, and indicators such as temporal evolution, geographic distribution, authorship, keywords, and thematic axes were analyzed. The findings revealed a significant growth of publications from 2018 onward, with Brazil, Colombia, and Spain standing out as the main centers of production. Keyword analysis showed predominance of terms related to childbirth, health, reproductive rights, and gender, indicating the consolidation of the topic as an interdisciplinary field. Gaps were identified regarding international collaboration and conceptual standardization, as well as the need for evaluative and intersectional studies. It is concluded that obstetric violence represents a complex and persistent phenomenon whose mitigation requires integration among science, ethics, and public policies to promote respectful, human rights-based obstetric care.
