Abstract

To identify the impacts of the use of three-dimensional printing technology in the creation of orthopedic models implanted or that assist in children's orthopedic surgery. Methods: This is an integrative review using the databases of the National Library of Medicine (PubMed/Medline) and EBSCOhost Research Platform, with documents dated from 2016 to 2021, using age groups between 6 and 2021 as filters. 12 years old. The Health Science Descriptors adopted for the selection of articles were combined as follows: <<“Printing, Three-Dimensional" AND medicine AND orthopedics AND child*>>. Results: It was found that the application of orthopedic models created by Three-dimensional printing was able to provide several benefits, such as greater specificity of the prototypes used, increased effectiveness of procedures, reduced risk of surgical damage and greater acceptability by the patient's body and others. As for the negative impacts, the highlight was the scientific-technical-financial difficulty of accessing a three-dimensional printer. Conclusions: Three-dimensional printing has had positive impacts on pediatric orthopedic surgeries, while a better financial and academic investment will contribute to bringing medicine and technology together. more and more to obtain satisfactory results in the treatments of pathologies and trauma.
